Custom Website & Landing Page Development in NYC & Northern NJ
Marketing websites and landing pages for small businesses across New York City and Northern New Jersey — bars, restaurants, professional firms, family operations. We don't use WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, or Wix. Every site we build is fully custom JavaScript code, hosted and maintained on a flat monthly subscription with no upfront cost. The work that's typically front-loaded into a one-time project — design, build, content, hosting, ongoing edits, security patches — is bundled into a single monthly fee.
What we actually build.
Static Marketing Sites
Fast, accessible, beautifully typeset marketing sites for small businesses. Custom-designed and custom-coded, optimized for the kinds of customers you actually want — not the cookie-cutter look every other small business in your market is using.
Landing Pages
Single-page sites for events, promotions, or focused conversion goals. Built fast, easy to A/B test, no template scaffolding to argue with. Useful when the rest of your marketing wants a real destination instead of a Linktree.
Lightweight Web Tools
Booking forms, intake forms, customer portals, simple online ordering, reservation systems. The 'we need a thing on our website that does X' projects that don't justify a full custom-software engagement but do need real engineering.
Replatforms from WordPress, Squarespace, Wix
When the WordPress plugin nightmare or the Squarespace template limitations become more expensive than they're worth, we move you to a custom-coded site that loads faster, ranks better, and doesn't break when a vendor pushes an update.
The process.
- 01
Discovery
One in-person or video session with the people who actually run the business. We learn what the site needs to do, who it's for, and what's been frustrating about whatever you have today. Followed by a written brief — what we'll build, the proposed monthly cost, and the timeline.
- 02
Design
Two design directions presented in the browser, not in Figma. Real type, real spacing, real interactivity — what you see is what gets built. You pick one and we refine it.
- 03
Build
Fully custom Next.js code. Mobile-first, accessible, fast. Two-week build window for a typical small-business site. You review content as it goes live and we cut over from your old site without breaking links.
- 04
Operate
Hosting, security patches, content edits, performance monitoring, daily backups, and the occasional 'can we add X?' — all included in the monthly fee. No 'oh that's a separate ticket' surprises.
NYC & Northern NJ in person.
For NYC clients we run kickoffs in person across the five boroughs same-week. For Northern New Jersey clients we schedule kickoffs on the days we're routinely in-state (twice a week) and travel for major redesigns regardless of day. After launch the work is mostly remote — content edits and updates happen in pull requests and chat — but we'll come by in person for major redesigns or quarterly reviews when you want them. Local clients refer other local clients, so the in-person investment compounds.
The stack.
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- Tailwind
- Sanity / Payload CMS
- Vercel
- Postgres
Next.js with TypeScript, deployed on Vercel. Sanity or Payload for content management when you need to edit copy and images yourself. Tailwind for styling. We don't use WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, or any other no-code or page-builder tool — every site we ship is hand-written code we can guarantee the performance, accessibility, and security of. If you're already on one of those platforms and don't want to leave, we'll respectfully recommend a firm that specializes in it.
Who we work with.
Local restaurants, bars, and hospitality
Small operations that want a website that loads fast, looks like the real business, and doesn't break when a template vendor pushes an update. Example: a small NYC bar with a static landing page, hours, menu link, and contact form fits our Starter tier at $299/month — see /pricing for the full ladder.
Professional service firms (1-20 people)
Lawyers, accountants, architects, engineers, designers, therapists. Sites that present the firm credibly without the cookie-cutter look every other firm in the market is using.
Family-run and second-generation businesses
Operations replacing aging Wix or WordPress sites — often the original was built by a relative ten years ago and the relative is no longer answering the phone. We migrate the content, keep the URLs, and modernize the underpinnings.
Common questions.
- Why don't you use WordPress, Webflow, or Squarespace?
- Two reasons. First, custom-coded sites are measurably faster, more secure, and more accessible than template-based ones — and those things compound over years. Second, we don't want to specialize in a tool we can't fully reason about. WordPress sites we'd inherit from another firm carry years of plugin debt, security holes, and design compromises. We respect those tools for the firms they're right for — we're not those firms.
- How much does this actually cost?
- We charge monthly, with no upfront fee for design, build, hosting, or maintenance. Posted pricing starts at $299/month for our Starter tier (1-5 page custom site for small operations), $799/month for Pro (multi-page sites with integrations and ongoing dev hours), $2,499+/month for Scale (custom web apps and AI features), and $4,999+/month scoped for Enterprise (manufacturers, logistics, multi-tenant SaaS). See the full ladder and add-ons at /pricing. We quote a flat monthly number after a free 30-minute scoping call. No hidden charges.
- Why monthly instead of an upfront project fee?
- Three reasons. First, websites aren't 'projects' that end at launch — they need security patches, content updates, performance monitoring, and the occasional rebuild as the business changes. Pricing as a one-time project hides this and pushes the real cost back to you when something breaks. Second, monthly costs match how small businesses actually budget. Third, it aligns our incentives with yours — we make money by keeping your site fast, working, and current, not by selling you a one-time deliverable and disappearing.
- What's included in the monthly fee?
- Hosting, domain renewal coordination, security patches, performance monitoring, daily backups, and a defined amount of content and design changes per month (specifics in the agreement). Email and chat support for the business owner. Quarterly performance review with a written report.
- What if I want to leave?
- There's a 12-month minimum so the build labor amortizes (no upfront fee = needs runway). After that, cancel any time with 30 days' notice. While you're a client, you have a royalty-free license to run the site for your business — we host and maintain it, you use it. If you ever want full ownership of the source, there's a posted buyout (24× your current monthly fee) and we'll deploy to a hosting account in your name on the way out. We don't lock you in — but we don't give away the engineering work either. Full terms at /pricing.
- Do you do SEO?
- Technical SEO — fast loading, structured data, accessible markup, working sitemaps, schema, mobile-friendly markup — is built into every site we ship. Content SEO and backlink-building are separate engagements; we'll be honest if your business needs them and refer you to specialists if it's not where we'd add the most value.
- Can I edit the content myself?
- Yes if you want to. Sites with active content needs (blog, menu, events, listings) get a content management system — we use Sanity or Payload — that lets you edit text and images directly through a clean interface. Sites where the content rarely changes don't need a CMS; we update copy on request, usually same-day.
- Do you work onsite in NYC and NJ?
- Yes. Discovery and kickoff are typically in person — same-week across the five boroughs of NYC, scheduled on the days we're in Northern NJ (twice a week). Routine content updates happen remotely; we'll travel for major redesigns or quarterly reviews when you want.
